What is the relation of PNAC to the 9/11 attacks?

The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) was a neoconservative think tank based in Washington [1][2], D.C., that was founded in 1997 and disbanded in 2006. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, PNAC proposed a policy of aggressive military intervention in the Middle East, arguing that the US had to take a strong stance against terrorism and that only a robust military presence in the region would be effective. After the attacks, PNAC's members and former members held positions of influence in the Bush administration and were instrumental in advocating for the invasion of Iraq and other military actions in the Middle East. Additionally, some PNAC members argued that the 9/11 attacks provided a "unique opportunity" to reshape the Middle East in a way that was favorable to US interests.
