**Universal Declaration of the Illegality of the Vatican and Catholic Church for Crimes Against Humanity**

**Preamble**

Recognizing the horrific crimes against humanity committed by the Vatican and Catholic Church over the past 2000 years, including genocide, slavery, usury, pedophilia, conversion therapy, secret keeping, and war mongering;

Concerned about the ongoing suffering and trauma caused by these crimes;

Determined to hold the Vatican and Catholic Church accountable for their actions and to prevent future atrocities;

The undersigned organizations and individuals hereby declare the following:

**Article 1: Crimes Against Humanity**

* The Vatican and Catholic Church have committed crimes against humanity, as defined by the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, including:

    * Genocide

    * Slavery

    * Torture

    * Persecution

    * Enforced disappearance

    * Other inhumane acts of a similar character

**Article 2: Individual and Institutional Responsibility**

* Both individual members of the Vatican and Catholic Church hierarchy and the institution itself bear responsibility for these crimes.

* The Church's systematic cover-up of abuse and its failure to prevent or punish perpetrators have enabled these crimes to continue for centuries.
