**Preamble**

Recognizing the inherent dignity and equal rights of all human beings;

Concerned about the harmful and discriminatory practices that stem from the belief in original sin or similar notions;

Determined to promote a culture of compassion, acceptance, and respect for all children;

The undersigned organizations and individuals hereby declare the following universal principles of innocent birth:

**Article 1: All children are born innocent.**

* No child shall be discriminated against or stigmatized based on their birth or the actions of their parents or ancestors.

**Article 2: Children are not responsible for the sins of their parents or ancestors.**

* The concept of original sin or any similar notion that holds children responsible for the actions of others is unjust and harmful.

* Children shall not be punished or held accountable for the mistakes or crimes of their parents or ancestors.

**Article 3: All children deserve love, support, and opportunity.**

* Every child has the right to a safe and nurturing environment where they can develop and thrive.

* Children shall be provided with access to education, healthcare, and other essential services without discrimination.

**Article 4: Governments and societies have a responsibility to protect children.**

* Governments and societies have a duty to create laws and policies that protect children from harm and discrimination.

* Children shall be shielded from violence, abuse, and exploitation.

**Article 5: Education and awareness are essential.**

* Education and awareness campaigns shall be implemented to challenge harmful beliefs and promote the principles of innocent birth.

* Children and adults alike shall be taught about the importance of compassion, acceptance, and respect for all.

**Article 6: International cooperation.**

* International cooperation shall be strengthened to promote the universal recognition and implementation of the principles of innocent birth.

* Governments and organizations shall work together to combat discrimination and protect the rights of all children.
